A Heartfelt Thank You to Our Market Specialist, Dylan Kalsbeek

We wanted to take a moment to shine a spotlight on our wonderful market teammate, Dylan Kalsbeek, and share this photo of him on his last day as our 2024 market staff member! Dylan has been a fantastic asset to our pet treat team all season, supporting everything from pet treat production to market outreach.

Throughout the season, Dylan has worked alongside our production manager, Rob Jordan, making treats right here on the farm. Every weekend, he proudly represented Alluvial Pet Treats at the Bellingham Farmers Market, engaging with dog owners and sharing our story.

Dylan is entering his senior year at Mount Baker High School and keeps busy helping on his family’s farm, Mama’s Garden, in the South Fork Valley. He’s also actively pursuing career growth through the Future Farmers of America program and is preparing for his next steps by applying to colleges.

When we first reached out to check references, his FFA advisor, Todd Rightmire, couldn’t have said it better: “Dylan applied for your marketing job? You are lucky. He is wise beyond his years.”

When we asked Dylan to reflect back on his time working at Alluvial Farms, he shared that his role "gave me more exposure to different aspects of the agriculture industry, and also helped me develop valuable skills that I can apply elsewhere. I enjoyed working with Alluvial Farms because things were very flexible and I always felt encouraged to ask questions when confused."

"My favorite part of my time working with Alluvial Farms was getting to interact with customers and other vendors at the farmers market. It was fun because they got to ask questions, tell me about themselves, etc. Being a high school student and being involved in other activities, scheduling was sometimes a difficulty and I wished there was a way for me to work around things to incur more hours."

Thank you, Dylan, for the energy, enthusiasm, and hard work you've brought to our team this season. We’re looking forward to seeing you back at the market for some moonlighting events this winter, and maybe even again next summer.

Warmly,
Katie and the Alluvial Farms Team
